I have been making lamp work beads for several years now. I find the process a release from the everyday work world. It is a creative outlet with no schedule or deadlines. The time at the torch passes all too quickly. What started as a leisure activity has become somewhat of an obsession. As time passed the question became what to do with all these beads? The wine stoppers are one answer, practical art.
I enjoy making focals and sometimes when the mood strikes me sets of beads. The organic type beads with enamels, frits and metals such as silver and copper foils appeals to me. I like the interplay of the metals with the glass. The randomness of the end product is always an adventure. No two beads are ever identical and that is good since I get bored making the same bead twice.
